How are the samples collected?

The test requires simple cheek swab samples.  This it totally pain-free and can be performed on a person of any age, including new-born babies.

For a court-admissible legal DNA test, the samples must be collected by an independent and authorized professional collector under strict chain-of-custody conditions. This ensures that the DNA samples are collected from the right people, that the correct documents are completed, and that the DNA samples are safely transported to the laboratory without the possibility of tampering.

We have a large network of approved sample collection clinics across the United States, and will arrange an appointment at your local clinic at a time convenient for you.

The professional sample collector will have the sample collection kit and all the necessary paperwork, so you just have to attend your appointment.

People taking part in the test can have their DNA collected at different times and/or in different locations.

How accurate is the test?

Our legal DNA testing is 100% accurate and reliable.

When will I receive my results?

Once the samples are received at the lab, your AABB-accredited and court-admissible results report will be completed within 3 business days.

They will be sent to you by password-protected email for complete security and confidentiality.

What is the difference between a home DNA test and a legal DNA test?

The main difference between a legal DNA test and a home / peace of mind DNA test is how the results report can be used.  Results from a legal DNA test are court admissible while results from a home DNA  test are not.

Courts accept results for a legal DNA test because a strict chain-of-custody process is followed, and samples are collected by an independent and trained professional.

This ensures that the DNA samples are collected from the right people, that the correct documents are completed, and that the DNA samples are safely transported to the laboratory without the possibility of tampering.

A home / peace of mind DNA test uses samples collected by yourself in the privacy of your own home. The DNA samples will still be analyzed by the laboratory in exactly the same way as legal testing, but the results cannot be used for legal purposes.
