Sibling test proves adopted children are related

Single mom Katie page received the surprise of her life after discovering that the baby girl she was about to adopt shared the same biological mother as her newly adopted son.

Page had adopted her son Grayson in 2017 after he was abandoned at a hospital. He is now 2 years old. A month after the adoption had gone through, she received a call about a newborn girl, named Hannah, who also needed a home. As soon as she met the little girl, she knew she wanted to give her a forever home as well.

When Page met Hannah, she noticed the name of the biological mother on the hospital bracelet, which was really similar to Grayson’s. It wasn’t a typical name so Page began to wonder whether the boy and girl were actually brother and sister. There was some uncertainty because the mother had lied about her last name and date of birth when she left Grayson at the hospital on the day he was born.

What Page did know was that both children had been exposed to methamphetamines in the womb. A DNA test was then performed on the children, which confirmed them to be biological siblings.

In December 2018, Page officially adopted Hannah. She now hopes to adopt Grayson and Hannah’s 5-month-old sibling later this year.

“I was a single woman in a four-bedroom house and now every room in my house is full”, Page said. “It’s never dull. People ask me all the time, ‘How do you do it?’ I never thought I’d have three babies, but God doesn’t give you more than you can handle.”

How does sibling DNA testing work?

Sibling DNA testing uses DNA technology to establish whether brothers and sisters share the same mother and father, or share either the mother or the father.

In AlphaBiolabs’ Sibling DNA test the two alleged siblings provide a DNA sample by rubbing a mouth swab on the inside of their cheeks to collect cells. When these swabs are returned to our lab, the DNA is extracted from the cells. We then use statistical analysis to evaluate the amount of DNA shared between the individuals tested. Full siblings will have more DNA in common than half-siblings, and half-siblings normally share more DNA than unrelated individuals.

Our sibling DNA test can be ordered online today for just $249 with guaranteed results or your money back. Results are available in 3–5 working days after receipt of all samples in the lab.
