Prenatal paternity testing is not covered by insurance.
Prenatal paternity testing is a procedure that is performed when there is a query surrounding an unborn baby’s paternity. The standard way of establishing paternity is to wait until the baby is born. A sample of the baby’s blood can then be drawn after birth, whilst on the neonatal ward. Alternatively, a mouth swab could be used to collect cheek cells that contain DNA, as in the case of our paternity testing.
AlphaBiolabs’ prenatal paternity testing offers an alternative. It can be a stressful time when you’re waiting on answers. That is why AlphaBiolabs can perform this test after only 8 weeks’ gestation (or 6 weeks after conception). The test costs $895 with results in 7–8 working days.
The non-invasive test is completely safe and there is no risk of miscarriage or harm to the baby.

Prenatal paternity testing works by analyzing a blood sample from the mother because the baby’s DNA can be found within her bloodstream. The sample of blood is usually taken from the mother’s arm. A simple mouth swab is all that is needed from the possible father to collect cheek cells. For more information on paternity testing while pregnant, click here.
When the samples are returned to our lab for testing, our DNA scientists study the DNA samples to work out which half of the baby’s DNA is inherited from the mother and which is from the father. They will then be able to ascertain whether the father and baby are biologically related.
